Last Year's Emmy

Just came across this video on C-SPAN's website of last September 27th ceremony of the News and Documentary Emys. It was a wild ride for the Studio Macbeth team, and (some of) our faces show it!

Ray Downing was awarded an Emmy for "Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Graphic Design and Art Direction" for the creation of the Virtual Abraham Lincoln.

If you don't want to watch the whole video (it's over 2 hours long), just scrub to 1:34:40 to see Dan Rather struggling to open the envelope and finally name the winner as we were all holding our breath. And then watch how we made him wait - sorry, Mr. Rather, but we were seated in the balcony and it took a while for us to get down to the stage.

What a great night it was!

Comments from our audience

This week we received a lot of feedback from our audience in response to the airing of "Jesus: the Lost 40 Days". The comments, as always, are very positive and supportive. We thank all of you for making it possible to continue our research into this subject. Our work continues and we will be sharing our progress in a future television program.

Here is one of the many wonderful comments we received:

"I wasn't expecting very much from the show.  Boy, was I wrong. I not only thought that it was a tremendous show, but Ray and the Studio came away looking like far more than just talented CGI artists.  You looked like inspired Christians making Jesus more relevant to a wider audience. When I saw my kids (14,12,10,5) riveted to the TV watching this show, I came away thinking that this is exactly what they should be seeing on the major networks - not just on the History Channel.
When you combine all the crap that is on TV today, with the lack of inspiration I see in them at weekly mass, it makes me see that your method of story telling (including the amazing imagery) can inspire them to consider their beliefs more strongly."

MEDIA ALERT

HISTORY® CELEBRATES EASTER WITH EXCLUSIVE SPECIAL

JESUS: THE LOST 40 DAYS

PREMIERES WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 9PM ET/PT

Last year THE REAL FACE OF JESUS was revealed.

Now HISTORY invites viewers to experience what the apostles may have seen which caused them to believe in the impossible

New York, April 19, 2011 – This week Christians around the world will celebrate the story of the Resurrection. Extraordinary events, however, require extraordinary evidence. For a period of 40 days following his disappearance from the tomb, according to the New Testament, Jesus provided that evidence - he was seen alive again.  This Easter HISTORY takes the viewers on an unforgettable journey to see what the apostles may themselves have seen. JESUS: THE LOST 40 DAYS will premiere on Wednesday, April 20th, 9pm ET/PT.

JESUS: THE LOST 40 DAYS follows up to The Real Face of Jesus which premiered last year to worldwide attention. This year, the CGI team which extracted the tortured body of Jesus from the Turin Shroud is on a new mission. The story of Jesus did not end with the disappearance of his body from the tomb.

For a period of 40 days following the discovery of the missing body, the New Testament reports that Jesus appeared to his followers as a living, flesh and blood, man. Our CGI team will attempt to visualize Jesus alive again as his followers saw him - from his appearance to a weeping Mary Magdalene, to his final ascension from the Mount of Olives. Surprisingly, the New Testament reveals little about this defining miracle of the Christian faith.

Using tools of history, technology, science and faith, HISTORY tells the little-known story. Long-buried non-Biblical sources yield astonishing information and detail about these seemingly lost 40 days. Could Jesus’ words in these ancient manuscripts contain some of his most important teachings, even though they were not included in the New Testament? Or are these teachings lost forever?

From History's website:

JESUS: THE LOST 40 DAYS fills the gaps in the historical record. According to the Bible, Jesus came back from the dead and walked the earth for 40 days before ascending to heaven. But the New Testament reveals little about this defining miracle of the Christian faith. Using tools of history, technology, science and faith, HISTORY tells the little-known story. Long buried non-Biblical sources, such as the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, the Secret Revelation of John and the writings of the Jewish historian Josephus yield astonishing information and detail about these seemingly lost 40 days.

Could Jesus' words in these ancient manuscripts contain some of his most important teachings, even though they were not included in the New Testament? The producers also build upon the CGI image of the crucified Christ created from the Shroud of Turin in The Real Face of Jesus to visually depict the moments when Jesus appears to his followers in resurrected form.

Lincoln gallery
